Our #FirstNightTakeover series continues with Perry O’Bree attending the opening of & Juliet at London’s Shaftesbury Theatre, the Shakespeare-style tale with a twist featuring oodles of iconic Max Martin tunes. Described by one cast member as ‘the Pixar of British stage musicals’, Jake Brunger and Pippa Cleary’s inspiring show gives Perry goosebumps so he is thrilled to catch up several members of the cast: both the grown-ups and children. What would have happened if Shakespeare’s Juliet had chosen her own fate? Audiences might be able to find out when new musical & Juliet – featuring the hits of songwriter Max Martin and starring acclaimed actress Miriam-Teak Lee – plays briefly at Manchester Opera House from 10 September to 12 October 2019 before transferring to the West End’s Shaftesbury Theatre on 2 November.
